Chairmans Annual Report 2012

GOOD EVENING EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING.  I AM GILLIAN WARRRENDER, CHAIR OF THE PARISH COUNCIL.

I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT ALL SIX OF THE SERVING COUNCILLORS PRIOR TO THE MAY ELECTIONS LAST YEAR WERE RE-ELECTED AND WELCOME NEVILLE WILLIAMS WHO EXPRESSED AN INTEREST IN BEING COOPTED TO THE OUTSTANDING VACANCY.

IN THE PAST YEAR OUR COMMUNITY BUILIDING, KILHAM HALL, RUN BY ITS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE CONTINUES TO BE VERY SUCCESSFUL WITH ZUMBZ AND PILATES CLASSES AND MANY PRIVATE FUNCTIONS. ALSO   THE CHRISTMAS CAROL SINGING EVENT WAS VERY WELL ATTENDED AND ENJOYED BY ALL PRESENT. WE ALSO HAD A VERY SUCCESSFUL FUN DAY AT THE RECREATION GROUND ORGANISED BY 3 LOCAL PEOPLE WHICH RAISED OVER £1,000 FOR CHARITY.

AN IMPROVED DISABLED ACCESS TO THE PLAY AREA AND FIELD HAS BEEN PROVIDED AND FOLLOWING A REQUEST FROM YOUNG ADULTS FOR SOME RECREATIONAL FACILITIES A BALL WALL WITH A BASKET BALL HAS BEEN PROVIDED. RESIDENTS AT OLD CANTLEY NOW BENEFIT FROM A NEW NOTICE BOARD THAT ENABLES MORE INFORMATION TO BE DISPLAYED.  THE PARISH COUNCIL IS AWARE THAT SPEEDING TRAFFIC IS A CAUSE FOR CONCERN AND WE CONTINUALLY REQUEST THE USE OF EQUIPMENT TO DETECT THIS.  THREE TREES HAVE ALSO BEEN PLANTED IN THE VILLAGE TO REPLACE ONES THAT HAD DIED.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK PARISH COUNCILLORS BARBARA FUSSEY AND NEVILLE WILLIAMS WHO SERVE ON THE KILHAM HALL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE AS THE PARISH COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES, ALSO YVONNE BUTTERWORTH WHO ALONG WITH MYSELF ARE REPRESENTATIVES ON CANTLEY POOR’S LAND TRUST AND JENNIFER WORTHINGTON WHO ATTENDS MEETINGS WITH THE AIRPORT AUTHORITIES.
