Bus Service Changes from Sunday 2 January 2022

We have been advised that as a result of the current national bus driver shortage, First South Yorkshire and Stagecoach Yorkshire have made the decision to implement a number of service reductions in South Yorkshire with effect from Sunday 2 January 2022.
As you may be aware, the national bus driver shortages continue to impact service delivery across the region, with customers continuing to face short notice cancellations between both First and Stagecoach operations. In the short term we can, unfortunately, expect further disruption on the network, however SYPTE expect the changes to provide some stability in the network.
What services are affected?
SYPTE have maintained close and regular contact with local operators and are working with them to try to improve the situation.
Operators will be introducing a number of service changes and reductions, which will take effect from Sunday 2 January 2022, to better match driver availability and avoid on the day cancellations and provide customers with a more reliable timetable.
These service reductions are unavoidable and will be implemented on a temporary basis so that operators are able to run a reliable and consistent service for the public until their resource issues are addressed.
New timetables are available for customers at travelsouthyorkshire.com/servicechanges.
How will this information be communicated to customers?
To ensure customers can stay up to date with the latest changes, SYPTE Service Changes page will be updated to reflect the latest service information at travelsouthyorkshire.com/servicechanges. They will continue to update our Disruptions page to reflect any short notice service cancellations at travelsouthyorkshire.com/Disruptions.
First South Yorkshire will be tweeting service changes and cancellations via @FirstSouthYorks which we will retweet on our @TSYalerts Twitter feed.
First South Yorkshire will also be keeping customers updated via their web page https://www.firstbus.co.uk/sheffield and any short notice cancellations will be communicated via their web pages as follows:
• Sheffield/Rotherham - https://www.firstbus.co.uk/sheffield/plan-journey/timetables/journey-cancellations
• Doncaster - https://www.firstbus.co.uk/Doncaster/plan-journey/timetables/journey-cancellations
Stagecoach will also be keeping customers updated via their Twitter feed @StagecoachYrks and their website at: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/regional-service-updates/yorkshire
In the first instance it is recommended that customers check service availability via the above links before they travel and make alternative arrangements where required.
Alternatively, customers who do not have access to the internet or social media can call Traveline on 01709 51 51 51 for the latest information.
